What Doctors Need to Move to Industry
Hello, I’m Abeyna!
Occupational Health Physician, Founder of Medic Footprints and a total geek on doctors moving to alternative careers.
Particularly doctors moving to alternative careers in industry.
So much so, I’ve been doing it for nearly a decade now, and I’m still not even close to being bored.
This is why I’m a doctor and an entrepreneur.. and LOVING it.
So.. what does that mean for you?
Well, you’re on this list because you are either a recruiter, leader, business owner, or influencer under the umbrella of doctors changing careers - particularly on the move to industry.
We’ve either worked together, chatted, made waves with a podcast or webinar, hung out at one of our tear-jerker conferences, or I stalked you with consent (!)
This publication will help you attract and hire doctors into industry faster.
That means high quality information, advice and insights which can help inform your own business.
In order to make sure the information remains high quality, I’m 100% reliant on your feedback so we can get better. The opportunity to do that is towards the end of this email.
If you’re not hot on what I’m serving, please do attack the unsubscribe link at the bottom of this email.
I won’t be offended (much__).

🔥Top Tip for Attracting the Best Doctors
Ongoing visibility is key.
We receive several emails a week from doctors asking what options are out there and who they should go to work with.
They live in a public sector bubble which is about to pop and need guidance on where to go.
Keeping the lights on all the time will help you stay top of mind to the right doctors.
It also creates more opportunities for word of mouth marketing - which we are really hot on!

💡 Business Productivity Hack(ish)
Having conducted a thorough tour of most email marketing platforms, we’ve moved over to Beehiiv from Mailerlite.
Mailerlite - we had ongoing tech issues that just weren’t addressed by the tech team (and some still aren’t). We event struggled to export our mailing list.. it was only sorted today.
Beehiiv is a real game changer when it comes to newsletters, quality, growth and monetisation. All of which I will be studying even more intently as we progress.
Full disclosure - they are our partner links so we will get a commission if you sign up. Which helps us to grow!

💯 Wins
✅ Doctors in Industry Incubator soft launched with 5 doctors confirmed
🫵 We recruited 3 new team members this last quarter
Lauretta Ihonor - as our Podcast Strategist (ex doctor, ex Flo Health, master at many things)
Tiarnán McKeever - as our Digital Growth Lead (also a social media savvy Medical Student!)
Lean May Dizor - as one of our Team Admins (she actually returned to us after a break for 2 yrs.. we’re really excited to have her back!)
🏚️ Challenges
Time is the biggest challenge for us all at the moment with so many projects going on. I run the team on a 4 day working week, and not everyone (including myself) works the full 4 days.
In the last 2 years I’ve had 2 girls; now aged 2 and 5 months!
Alongside the chronic fatigue of being a parent who’s lucky if they get more than 3 hours of sleep in a row, this has actually fed my drive to grow the business, but also means I have to be much more focused too - with more overseeing and less doing.
I’m also yet to go back to my own clinical work as an Occupational Health Physician because my emotional capacity is spent on 2 year old trivial tantrums, endless nappies and frequent night time waking.
It’s something I intend to do when I have more sleep.
With the Doctors in Industry Incubator launched, and us being in a period of build, it means we need more hands on deck, so we’re hiring another team member in our period of growth - Strategic Growth Officer.
If you know anyone who is a great fit, please let me know!
That’s it for this edition of Doctors in Industry Insights.
I hope you enjoyed our first relaunched edition. If you did or didn’t, please leave your feedback below.
and.. give us a SHARE if you think it will benefit anyone else you know!
Warm wishes
